Dr. Rita S. Eagle practiced in New York City and in Toronto for over 35 years, before moving to California 18 years ago. Here, Dr. Eagle has continued working with children, youth and adults with autism or other pervasive developmental disorders, as well as those with learning disabilities; intellectual disabilities (mental retardation) and/or emotional or behavioral difficulties. Dr. Eagle has a background as well in child welfare and custody and access matters.
Her orientation reflects an integration of developmental and psycho dynamic considerations, and an appreciation of the biological, psychological and environmental factors influencing an individual's intellectual, social and/or emotional adjustment.
Dr. Eagle is a parent of three children, now adults, including a son with developmental disabilities. She integrates her personal experience with her professional experience and training, to bring sensitivity and insight to therapy and counseling for both individuals with special needs and those with more typical development, their parents and families.
